Abstract:

Purpose: In cases diagnosed with unexplicable infertility, we aimed at identifying the differences in terms of the therapeutic effectiveness of clomifen citrate (KS) and the clinical and laboratory parameters between pregnant and inconsistent groups. Method: Between 2016 and 2017, 240 cycles of 112 patients with infertility diagnosis and clomifen citrate and ovulation induction were evaluated as retrospective. The treatment began with the 5th day of the menstruation with 50 mg of clomifen citrate being used 2 times a day for 5 days. Patients were called for ultrasound control on the 12th day of the menstruation. Patients with at least one follicle of 17 mm and above in the control ultrasound were recommended excess coat between 12-18 days of the cycle. Cycles of patients with more than 3 and 3 follicles with 100 mg of clomifen citrate were cancelled. Results: A total of 37 pregnancies were achieved in 240 cycles of 112 patients surveyed. The total pregnancy rate was 32% per patient and 15% per cycle. The age of the women involved was between 19 and 36 years and the average was 26.6. The number of cycles was significantly smaller than the group not in the pregnant group (p<0.0001). Midluteal progesterone levels were significantly higher in the pregnant group (p=0.03). There are no differences between the groups in terms of parameters. The result: In infertile cases which are not explained by the results of our clinic, the factors affecting pregnancy in the treatment of clomifen citrate and ovulation induction are the number of cycles and midluteal progesterone levels. Therefore, in cases with short infertility period, the first stage of KS treatment should be considered.
