Müteferrika Matbaası’ndan Mısır’daki Bulak Matbaası’na uzanan yüz yıllık süreç, temel ilgi ve alakaların değiştiği, basılan eserlerin Doğu’dan Batı’ya ya da içeriden dışarıya ve İslami konulardan modern bilimsel/teknik mevzulara kaydığını gösteren bir seyir izlemiştir. İstanbul ve Kahire özelindeki faaliyetler kısmi benzerlikler barındırsa da büyük farklılıklara sahiptirler. Meselenin daha iyi anlaşılması ve anlamlandırılması gayesiyle Osmanlılar’da matbaanın tesisi ve neşriyat sahasındaki temel gelişmeler kısaca ele alınmaktadır. Bu çalışma, Mısır’da kurulan matbaa ve yapılan neşriyatı incelemektedir. Mısır’da matbaanın kurulması, yoğun bir şekilde kitap basılması ve kitapların dağılımını gösteren oldukça farklı bir tablo ortaya çıkarmaktadır. Bu çalışma, Mısır’daki matbaanın tesisi ve neşriyata başlanması meselesinde ana unsurun teknik-askerî saikler olduğunu ileri sürmektedir. Tarih alanında gerçekleştirilen basım ve tercüme faaliyetlerinin Mısır’daki yönetimin ana eğilimini ortaya koyan niteliklere sahip olduğunu göstermektedir. Seçilen eserlerin dağılımı Kahire’deki siyasi erkin, Kavalalı Mehmet Ali Paşa ve maiyetinin, Batı’yı anlamaya dönük ilgisini vurgulamakta ve çeviri faaliyetlerinin arka planındaki saikleri net bir şekilde ortaya çıkarmaktadır. Dolayısıyla bu makale 1822-1850 çevrilen ve basılan tarih eserlerinin, icra edilen reformların ayrılmaz bir parçası olarak görülmesi gerektiğini belirtmektedir.
The hundred-year process from the Muteferrika Matbaasi to the Bulak Matbaasi in Egypt has followed a journey showing the changes of fundamental interests and relationships, the transition of printed works from the East to the West or from the inside to the outside and from Islamic subjects to modern scientific/technical positions. Even though the activities in Istanbul and Cairo are partially similar, they have great differences. In order to better understand and understand the issue, the basic developments in the facility of the matba and the field of pleasure are briefly discussed in the Ottoman. This study examines the foods established in Egypt and the pleasures made. The establishment of the matba in Egypt shows a very different picture that shows the intensive printing of books and the distribution of books. This study suggests that the main element in the issue of the installation of the matba in Egypt and the beginning of the dissertation are technical and military issues. History shows that the printing and translation activities carried out in the field of history have the qualities that reveal the main trend of administration in Egypt. The distribution of the chosen works emphasizes the interest of the political erkin in Cairo, the Cavalier Mehmet Ali Pasha and his maite in understanding the West, and clearly reveals the backgrounds of translation activities. Therefore, this article points out that the historical works translated and printed in 1822-1850 should be seen as an integral part of the reforms carried out.
