Abstract:

The purpose of this research is to reveal the opinions of educators about the change in the reputation of the teaching profession over time. In the framework of this goal, the research was carried out with class teachers working in schools associated with the Ministry of National Education. The study group was determined by a similar sampling technique from the purpose sampling method. The study’s work group consists of 8 teachers who work as primary school teachers in the 2019-2020 educational year in Amassia or Central district. This research has been carried out using the event design in the framework of the quality research approach. Researchers have used the semi-configured conversation form technique to collect data. The data obtained is analyzed with an image analysis understanding. The teachers who participated in the study, as the reasons for the decline of the reputation of the teaching profession in time; some managers in the past period have ranked the form of giving students more authority than necessary, giving the guardians more authority than necessary, the perspective of the society on the teaching profession, the lack of teacher wages, the unable to appoint teachers and the educational community cannot be united. Participants have made some recommendations, such as strengthening the teacher in front of the student and the guardian to increase the reputation of the teaching profession, having sanctions in the case of violence, extinguishing the teaching profession law, negative programs in the media, the spiritual dimension of the teaching profession, and that successful students prefer the teaching profession.
