The import-based growth model can have a positive impact on the economic development processes of developing countries such as Turkey. In this context, the research aimed at addressing the reflections of the import-based growth model on the Turkish economy. The study was analyzed in the light of asymmetric components in the period 1988-2021 and the analysis of the data used the asymmetric causality test Hatemi-J (2012) with the method of non-real delayed distributed autoregressive (NARDL). According to the NARDL integration and parameter ratio test results, it has been found that in the long term, asymmetrically, economic growth and imports are combined, and that both the positive and negative components of imports have an increasing impact on economic growth. According to the Hatemi-J (2012) causality test, the negative component of economic growth to the negative component of imports, the positive component of imports to the positive component of economic growth, the negative component of imports to the negative component of economic growth, the negative component of imports to the positive component of economic growth. Research has found that the import-based growth model in the Turkish economy is valid. However, the model concerned is not a long-term sustainable policy, and in this context, the economic growth phenomenon in the next process must be
