Günümüzde ortaöğretim düzeyinde tarım eğitimi Milli Eğitim Bakanlığı çatısı altında Mesleki ve Teknik Anadolu Liselerinin (MTAL) alt programlarında verilmektedir. Önceki sistemde Tarım ve Orman Bakanlığı tarafından organize edilen ortaöğretim düzeyindeki tarımsal eğitim “Tarım Meslek Liseleri” ismiyle, tarım sektörü için nitelikli insan kaynağı yetiştirme konusunda son derece önemli görevlerde bulunmuşlardır. Tarım Meslek Liseleri iken, bu okullara daha çok kırsal alanda yaşayan ve ailesi tarımla uğraşan gençler katılmıştır. Bu çalışma, günümüzde tarımla ilgili alanların ortaöğretim düzeyinde kimler tarafından seçildiği ve bu seçime etki eden faktörlerin neler olduğunu bilimsel yaklaşımlarla ortaya koymayı amaçlamıştır. Araştırmanın örneklemini Samsun ili Bafra Dedeli Mesleki ve Teknik Anadolu Lisesinde öğrenim gören 72 öğrenci ve Gelemen Mesleki ve Teknik Anadolu Lisesinde öğrenim gören 131 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Veriler 2018 ve 2019 eğitim ve öğretim yıllarında toplanmıştır. Araştırmanın ana materyali ise, toplam 203 öğrenciden yüz yüze anket yoluyla toplanan verilerdir. Öğrencilerin seçim nedenleri betimsel içerik analizi yöntemiyle diğer veriler ise, verinin ölçüm düzeyine, araştırmanın sorularına ve amacına yönelik uygun istatistiki yöntemlerle analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma bulgularına göre öğrencilerin önemli bir kısmı (%65) tarımla ilgili programları kendi kararları ile seçmiştir. Tarımla ilgili programları seçme nedenleri ise önem sırasına göre ilgi (%40.8), mesleki değer(29.6), yetenek(14.8) ve çevresel faktörler(14.8) olarak sıralanmıştır. Öğrencilerin önemli bir kısmı (%65,5) mezun olduktan sonra tarımla ilgili bir yükseköğretim programında eğitimine devam etmek istediğini belirtmiştir. Öğrenci ailelerinin %50,1’i tarımla uğraşmasına rağmen %54,2’si kentsel alanlarda yaşamaktadır. Bu çalışmanın orta öğretim öğrencilerinin tarımla ilgili alanları tercih ederken ve bu alanda bir meslek seçerken daha bilinçli karar vermeleri için geliştirilecek stratejilerin belirlenmesine katkı sağlaması amaçlanmaktadır.
Today, agricultural education at the level of secondary education is provided under the roof of the Ministry of National Education in the subprograms of the Professional and Technical Anatolian High Schools (MTAL). Agriculture education at the secondary level, organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry in the previous system; under the name of "Agriculture Professional High Schools", they have taken extremely important tasks in the training of qualified human resources for the agricultural sector. While the Agricultural Professional High Schools, more young people living in rural areas and their families engaged in agriculture took part in these schools. This study aims to reveal by scientific approaches who are selected by the fields related to agriculture today at the level of secondary education and what are the factors affecting this choice. The sample of the study consists of 72 students who studied at the Samsun or Bafra Dedeli Professional and Technical Anadolu High School and 131 students who studied at the Gelemen Professional and Technical Anadolu High School. The data was collected in the 2018 and 2019 educational and educational years. The main material of the study is the data collected through a face-to-face survey from a total of 203 students. The reasons for the choice of students are analyzed by the visual content analysis method; the other data are analyzed by the appropriate statistical methods for the measurement level of the data, the questions and the purpose of the research. According to the research findings, a significant proportion of students (65%) chose agriculture-related programs by their own decisions. The reasons for choosing agriculture-related programs are based on importance: interest (40.8%) and professional value (29.6), skill(14. 8) and the environmental factors (14.8) are classified. A significant percentage of students (65,5%) said they want to continue their education in an agriculture-related higher education program after graduation. Although 50.1% of students’ families are engaged in agriculture, 54.2% live in urban areas. This study aims to contribute to the determination of strategies that will be developed for students of secondary education to make more conscious decisions while prefering fields related to agriculture and choosing a profession in this field.
