Shahrazur located in the north of Iraq and is an important place as the gateway to Iran. Zalim and Gülanber castles located on the border of Iran were used as the capital of Shahrazur. Zalim castle is known that was built by Iranian. Gulanber castle was built or repaired after the Ottoman conquest. The region entered the Ottoman rule with Shahrazur battles in 1554. After the conquest, khans, mosques and baths were built in here. So, Sharazur was zoning. While these development activities were carried out with mainly the efforts of tribal Sarılu, needs were met mostly by Baghdad. The castle of Gulanber and surrounding area was destroyed in the early 17th century by Shah Abbas. It was rebuilt in conjunction with bushes and mosques during Husrev Pasha’s Persian campaign in 1630. After the Treaty of Qasr-i Shirin improvement of relations with Iran mainly left central location but maintained the importance of the border.
