Introduction: Football is a sport with characteristics of intense physical contact, short, fast and intermittent movements and have being suffering very changes in the last years, mainly because of the even higher physical requirements. Objective: The objective of this study is to evaluate the injuries incidence, type, anatomical location and position as well the athlete opinion about the risk factors in professional football athletes of Esporte Clube Primeiros Passos at Vitória da Conquista, Bahia. Subjects: 23 athletes with age superior to 18 years in vingent contract with the Esporte Clube Primeiros Passos team. Material and Methods: This is a descriptive, transversal, quantitative study. A closed questionnaire was used. Results: From the subjects of the samples, 13,0% presented musculoskeletal injuries during the state championship, from these, 66,77% was muscle, the most injured member was the tight (66,77%). Discussion: These injuries were due to fast contraction and explosive characteristics of the sports. Addicted to this, it has a high physical capacity requirement, training excess and plays and the fast movements in a short breaks time. Conclusion: The data showed a low injury incidence being the most common the muscle one in the thigh affecting the midfield player. The athletes consider that the excessive training and inadequate recovery of anterior injury are the principal risk factor for injury.
