Abstract:

Bu çalışma ile STEM yaklaşımını konu alan deneysel araştırmalar farklı açılardan incelenerek STEM yaklaşımı üzerine gerçekleştirilen deneysel araştırmaların eğiliminin tespit edilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda, içerik analizinden yararlanılmıştır. Bu çalışmaya dahil edilmesi amacı ile YÖK Ulusal Tez Merkezi, ULAKBİM ve Google Akademik veri tabanlarından “STEM” ve “FeTeMM” anahtar kelimeleri kullanılarak STEM’e yönelik gerçekleştirilen araştırmalara ulaşılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler içerik analizi ile incelenmiştir. Bu incelemelerin sonucunda STEM’e yönelik gerçekleştirilen deneysel araştırmaların 2018 yılında yoğunlaştığı ve yapılan çalışmaların çoğunlukla yüksek lisans tezi olduğu bunu sırasıyla makale ve doktora tezlerinin izlediği belirlenmiştir. Büyük bir bölümü ortaokul öğrencileri ile gerçekleştirilen bu deneysel araştırmalarda akademik başarı, problem çözme beceri/algı ve yansıtıcı düşünme, derse yönelik tutum ve bilimsel süreç becerileri bağımlı değişken olarak sıklıkla ele alınmıştır. Araştırmaların büyük bir çoğunluğunun kontrol gruplu deneysel çalışmalardan oluştuğu görülürken tek denekli araştırmaya yalnızca bir kez rastlanmıştır. Deneysel çalışmalarda uygulamaların çoğunlukla 1-5 hafta ile 6-10 haftalık süreler içerisinde gerçekleştirildiği görülmüştür. İncelenen araştırmaların yaklaşık yarısının karma araştırma yöntemi kullanılarak geri kalanların ise sadece nicel araştırma yöntemi kullanılarak gerçekleştirildiği belirlenmiştir. Karma araştırma yöntemlerinden ise gömülü desenin (iç içe desen) yoğunlukla kullanıldığı görülmüştür. Tüm bölgelerde yürütülmüş olan STEM’e yönelik deneysel araştırmaların İstanbul İli’nde çoğunlukta olduğu belirlenmiştir.

This study aimed at identifying the tendency of experimental research conducted on the STEM approach by studying the STEM approach from different perspectives. For this purpose, the content analysis has been used. In order to be included in this study, research conducted towards STEM has been achieved using the keywords "STEM" and "FeTeMM" from the YÖK National Thesis Center, ULAKBIM and Google Academic databases. The data obtained was examined by content analysis. The results of these studies have found that the experimental research conducted on STEM was concentrated in 2018 and that the studies conducted were mostly a master's thesis, according to which the article and the doctor's thesis were followed. In these experimental research conducted with a large portion of high school students, academic success, problem-solving skills/intelligence and reflective thinking, class-oriented attitude and scientific process skills are often treated as a variable dependent. The vast majority of the research is found to consist of control-group experimental studies, while the single comparative research has been found only once. Experimental studies have shown that the applications are mostly performed within 1-5 weeks to 6-10 weeks. Approximately half of the investigations were conducted using the mixed research method, while the rest were conducted using the quantum research method. The research methods of karma have shown that the buried pattern (internal pattern) is used intensely. Experimental research on STEM, which has been conducted in all regions, has been determined to be mostly in Istanbul.

Stem Tendency In Experimental Researches

In this study, the experimental researches about STEM are examined from different perspectives and it is aimed to determine the tendency of experimental researches on STEM. For this purpose, content analysis was utilized. For the purpose of inclusion in this study, researches were conducted  by using “STEM” and “FeTeMM" keywords from National Thesis Center of Council of Higher Education (CHE), ULAKBIM (Turkish academic network and information centre) and Google Scholar databases. The data were analyzed by content analysis. As a result of these investigations, it was determined that the experimental researches conducted for STEM were concentrated in 2018 and the studies were mostly master's thesis followed by articles and doctoral theses respectively. Academic success, problem solving skills / perception and reflective thinking, attitudes towards the course and scientific process skills are frequently considered as dependent variables in these experimental studies, which are mostly conducted with secondary school students. While the majority of the studies consisted of experimental studies with control groups, the single-subject study was found only once. In experimental studies, it was observed that the applications were mostly performed within 1-5 weeks and 6-10 weeks. It was determined that approximately half of the researches were conducted by using mixed research method and the rest of the researches were conducted by using only quantitative research method. It has been determined that the experimental researches for STEM conducted in all regions are in the majority in Istanbul.
