Abstract:

In this article, what globalization is in general and its connection with neoliberal ideology are emphasized, the origins of the concept in the historical process, the concepts and ideologies associated with it, the dynamics that play a role in the formation of the process, are analyzed and evaluated in relation to the transformation experienced by the family in the process. Globalization, which has become evident especially with the colonial activities in the last two centuries, the prominence of international companies and the neoliberal policies implemented by the industrialized states, has significantly changed the perception of time and space, has gained momentum with the developments in the technological field, and has made significant distances in transportation, communication and interaction between different societies. has traveled. The globalization process, which includes the widespread use of the life style envisaged by modernism, has highlighted the rational, libertarian, egoistic and individualistic aspects of human beings in family relations and has brought about the spread of an approach that breaks the individual's institutional belongings and ties with them. In the study, the dimensions of the change and transformation that occurred in the structure, function and relations of the family institution with the globalization process were examined, and its relationship with the prominent developments in the process was tried to be revealed. The conclusion reached is that neoliberal globalization is essentially an area of struggle between capital and labor, and an extension of a process based on the capitalist system, which is seen together with the industrial revolution and requires competition, has become widespread with practices that anticipate political and economic goals, is indifferent to feelings based on the happiness of the individual, individual happiness is only It is in the direction that he seeks in economic factors, therefore he does not care about the family institution and basic values. In addition, impressions have been obtained that the transformation of the family's structure, function and relations with the neoliberal globalization process has affected the family significantly, that the society has become unable to fulfill some of its important functions due to the atomization of the society, and that the fragmented family types bring about the isolation of the individual. Finally, it was pointed out that some precautions should be taken against the dangers that await the family institution.
