Özet:

The aim of this study is to examine the impact of Covid-19 epidemic on the shares of BIST Food and Beverage, BIST Tourism and BIST Transport, BIST Technology Index, BIST Information Companies. To find out in what direction the sectors are affected by the epidemic of the shares in Turkey, the situation was compared eight months before and eight months after the date of 10 March 2020 when the first vacation was seen. The Wilcoxon test was applied using the SPSS package program to compare pre- and post-situations. Due to the need and demand, the food and beverage and information sectors are positive; due to prohibitions, restrictions and the closure of border doors, the transport and tourism sector is expected to be negatively affected, and this will be reflected in the shares of the sector’s companies. But according to the results obtained from the epidemic, food and beverage, information and tourism sectors shareholders have been positively affected by the epidemic, while Transport has been negatively affected. The investigation of the reasons for the positive impact of the stock markets in the tourism sector is considered a separate subject of study.

To learn how they are affected by the outbreak of the industry the direction of the stock eight months before the date of March 10, 2020 the first cases seen in Turkey and compared the situation after eight months. The Wilcoxon test was applied using the SPSS package program to compare before and after situations. Due to the need and demand, the Food-Beverage and IT sectors are positive; It is expected that the transportation and tourism sector will be adversely affected due to prohibitions, restrictions and the closure of border gates, which will reflect on the stocks of companies in the sector. However, according to the results obtained, while the stocks of the Food-Beverage, Information and Tourism sectors were positively affected by the epidemic, transportation was negatively affected. Investigating the reasons why the stocks of the tourism sector are positively affected is considered as a separate study.
