The role of nutritional support in ensuring higher survival rates and lower treatment-related morbidity rates in childhood hematological malignancies has been increasing. The pediatric population is metabolically different from adults, and their growth and development need to continue during their treatment. Malnutrition and cachexia due to both the malignancy and its treatment is a common finding among pediatric patients with hematological malignancies. Prevention of cachexia and maintaining the child’s balanced nutritional status is an exceptionally important part of the treatment in the presence of malignancy. Nutritional support may increase the response to treatment, decrease complications, improve the immunological status and increase survival. Nutritional support programs should be regarded as the chief element of supportive care to prevent protein-calorie malnutrition and to strengthen the body in childhood hematological malignancies
