Joyce Kozloff 1970'den başlayarak, Los Angeles ve New York'taki feminist sanat çalışmalarına katılmıştır. Bu dönemde Amerika Birleşik Devletlerinde, genel olarak el sanatlarına ve özellikle de kadın zanaatı olarak görülen faaliyetlere sempati duyan, feminist bir eğilim içeren, ‘Desen ve Dekorasyon’ (PD) hareketi bir grup sanatçı tarafından kurulmuş, sanatçı bu hareketinin önde gelen ve en üretken sanatçılarından birisi olmuştur. Bu bağlamda, uygulamalı ve dekoratif sanatları, özellikle de batılı olmayan dünyanın görsel kültürlerini kaynak ve ilham kaynağı olarak araştırmıştır. Joyce Kozloff began in 1970 and participated in feminist art works in Los Angeles and New York.
