Abstract:

Purpose: The aim of this study is to demonstrate the role of local governments in development, to benefit the local development of Konya and to contribute to the literature by carrying out an exemplary work that can be used in the development of new development strategies. Design/Methodology: In the research, 150 participants determined by the quota sampling method, which is one of the random sampling methods, were reached and the survey was conducted by providing feedback from 100 participants. A 5-point Likert scale was used in the questionnaire questions. The obtained results were analyzed with the SPSS 15.0 program. Findings: Based on the results of the analysis, it is possible to say that the roles taken by local actors in development and the problems encountered are similar at many points. Many of the local actors who dominate the conditions of the region due to the fact that they provide services in the local area are short of resources and have difficulty working together. Limitations: The sample consists only of local actors in Konya province, the preparation of survey questions to determine the level of development of Konya province and the causes of development problems are the limitations of the study. Originality/Value: Although a literature review has been conducted on the subject and several similar studies have been reached, no research has been found in Konya province. Therefore, the subject carries a unique value. In addition, the fact that it is a multidisciplinary research on development and local administration issues increases the value of the study.
