Abstract:

Yunus Emre is a figure who has had an impact on Turkish literature throughout its history. Although his life is shrouded in obscurity, it is known that he lived between the years of 1240 and 1320. The poet, who penned his poems with sincere feelings in a simple language, puts what is in his heart and his Sufi teachings on paper. It is worth noting that he wrote in Turkish while some of his contemporaries employed Persian. He is the author of the oldest known Turkish Divan in our literature. The fact that he emerged in the sphere of literature as a poet in Anatolia as early as the 13th century with the Turkish Divan and the Risâletü'n-Nushiyye masnavi is reason enough to investigate his poetry. In the present study, it is discussed using sample couplets how Yunus, who reached all of humanity with his poems from the era he lived in, addressed the concept of treasure in the Divan and Risâletü'n-Nushiyye, and what meanings were attributed to it. The words "genc," "hazne," and "hazine" have all been found to reflect the concept of treasure. This concept was regarded as an image in his poems, which were written in the context of mysticism. Furthermore, it may be argued that the poet acted in the production of images based on his thoughts regarding the concept of treasure in social life. With the present study, the views of a renowned poet like Yunus Emre on the subject of treasure were disclosed. Thus, it was aimed to contribute to future studies on Yunus Emre.
