Han ve kervansaraylar, kervanların ve tüccarların gerek konaklama gerekse ticari amaçlı kullandıkları yapılardır. Osmanlı döneminde ticaretin ve ekonominin gelişmesiyle birlikte önemli yol güzergâhları üzerinde ve şehir merkezlerinde çok sayıda han ve kervansaray inşa edilmiştir. Bu önemli yol güzergâhlarının geçtiği Balkan coğrafyasında da Osmanlılar tarafından çok sayıda han ve kervansaray inşa edilmiştir. Ancak yüzyıllar içinde bölgede yaşanan savaşlar, isyanlar, doğal afetler ve hatta politik nedenlerle birçok anıtsal yapı gibi han ve kervansaraylar da zarar görerek ya yok olmuş ya da yok olma tehlikesi altında kalmıştır. Bu çalışmada 16. yüzyıl Osmanlı dönemi hanlarından Üsküp’te bulunan Kurşunlu Han ele alınmıştır. Han 1963 yılı depreminden sonra restorasyon geçirmiş, fakat günümüze gelinceye kadar ki süreç içerisinde bilinçli ve kapsamlı bir koruma çalışması gerçekleşmemiştir. Bu amaçla çalışma kapsamında yapının mevcut durumu ve sorunları tespit edilmiş, tarihsel süreç içerisinde geçirdiği işlevsel ve yapısal değişiklikler araştırılmıştır. Yapının özgün mimari özellikleri ve mekânsal bütünlüğü göz önüne alınarak yeni işlev önerisi getirilmesi amaçlanmıştır.
Inns and caravanserais are structures used by caravans and merchants for both accommodation and commercial purposes. With the development of trade and economy in the Ottoman period, many inns and caravanserais were built on important road routes and in city centers. Many of them were also built by the Ottomans in the Balkan geography, where these important road routes pass. However, over the centuries, due to wars, rebellions, natural disasters and even political reasons in the region, inns and caravanserais, like many monumental structures, were damaged and either destroyed or were in danger of being destroyed. In the scope of this study, we discuss on one of 16th century Ottoman period inns, the Kurşunlu Han which is located in Skopje. The inn underwent restoration after the 1963 earthquake, but no conscious and comprehensive conservation work has been carried out until today. For this purpose, within the scope of the study, the current situation and problems of the building have been determined, and the functional and structural changes it has undergone in the historical process have been investigated. Considering the original architectural features and spatial integrity of the building, it is aimed to propose a new function.
