Bu araştırmada, ABD eğitim sisteminin lise ve üniversitelerdeki sporcu öğrenciler için nasıl düzenlendiğinin ortaya konulması amaçlanmıştır. Araştırma nitel bir çalışma olup örneklem yöntemi olarak amaçlı örneklem yöntemlerinden ölçüt ve kolay ulaşılabilir örnekleme yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu sporcu öğrencilik özgeçmişi olan veya bu sisteminin içerisinde yer alan antrenör, atletik direktör, sporcu ve öğretim üyesi olan katılımcılar oluşturmaktadır. Veriler yüz yüze görüşme tekniği ile toplanmıştır. Araştırmada 6 açık uçlu sorudan oluşan yarı yapılandırılmış bir soru formu kullanılmıştır. Verilerin analizinde betimsel analiz yönteminden yararlanılmıştır. Bu yöntem ile veriler özetlenerek düzenlenmiş ve içerik analizine uygun hale getirilmiştir. Daha sonra betimsel analizde özetlenen ve yorumlanan veriler daha derin bir işleme tabi tutularak kodlama işlemi gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmada elde edilen verilere göre ABD eğitim sisteminde sporcu öğrencilere burs imkanı, akademik danışmanlık gibi fırsatlar sunulduğu ve ABD eğitim sisteminin olimpik sporcu yetiştirilmesinde etkin bir rol oynadığı ortaya çıkmıştır. Sporcu öğrencilerin liderlik becerisi, zaman yönetimi, disiplin gibi kazanımlar elde ettikleri sporcu öğrencilerin aldıkları spor bursunun akademik yeterlilik, antrenör görüşü gibi etmenlere bağlı olarak sürdürülebildiği de görülmektedir. Finansal zorluklar ve sakatlık riski sporcu öğrencilerin karşılaştıkları sorunlardandır. Sporcu öğrencilere nakit para ödenememesi ve branşa göre burs sayısının sınırlandırılması ise spor bursu sisteminde ortaya çıkan sorunlar arasındadır.
This study aims to reveal how the U.S. education system is organized for athlete students in high schools and universities. The research is a quality study and the sample method has been used for the purposes of the sample methods and the easy-to-access sample method. The study group consists of participants who have an athletic student’s resume or are trainer, athletic director, athletic and faculty members who are part of this system. The data is collected by face-to-face interview technique. The study used a semi-configured question form consisting of 6 open end questions. In the analysis of data, the visual analysis method was used. With this method, the data is summarized and made in accordance with the content analysis. The coding process was then carried out by keeping the data summarized and interpreted in the visual analysis under a deeper processing. According to the data obtained in the study, the U.S. educational system has found that students are offered opportunities such as scholarships, academic advice, and that the U.S. educational system plays an effective role in the training of Olympic athletes. It is also seen that athlete students have achieved achievements such as leadership skills, time management, discipline; athlete students receive sports burses can be sustained depending on factors such as academic qualification, coach's opinion. Financial difficulties and disability risks are the problems that athlete students face. The fact that athletes are unable to pay cash and the limitation of the number of scholarships according to the industry is one of the problems arising in the sports scholarship system.
The purpose of this study was to find out how US educational system organizes for student-athletes. This study is a qualitative research and sample of the study is selected using criterion and easily accessible sampling methods to determine the participants. The working group of the study consisted of coaches, athletic directors, student-athletes and faculty who are in the athletic system of American high schools and universities. Interviews were held with 13 people who are in the athletic system in California, USA such as student-athletes, coaches, athletic directors, faculties, and administrators. Data collected with face to face interviews. A semi-structure questionnaire consisting of 6 open-ended questions was used in this study. In the analysis of the data, the data are summarized by using the descriptive analysis method, then the content analysis method used. According to data, it is emerged that US educational system offered athletic scholarship and academic advising opportunities to the student-athletes and US education system played a role on cultivating Olympic athletes. It is also seen that student-athletes achieved some skills such as leadership, time management and discipline and athletic scholarship can be kept depending on academic eligibility and approval of coaches. Financial challenges and risk of injury problems faced by student-athletes. Problems such as shouldn’t be paid to the student-athletes and limits on the athletic scholarships depending on sports are issues of current athletic scholarship system
