Abstract:

Shigi Qutuqu Noyan, one of the most important figures in Mongolian history, was taken as a prisoner in the war with the Tatars in 1202 and brought before Temüjin. Temüjin gave this captive young man to his mother, Hö’elün Ujjn, to raise him because of his nobility and talents. Qutuqu Noyan, who became prominent in the household by proving himself in a short time, came to the office of "yeqe yarghuchid” in his twenties and started to administer the entire justice system of the country. Qutuqu Noyan, who joined the Chinese campaign as a diplomat in his early thirties, joined the western campaign on the orders of Chinggis Khan due to his success in China. Qutuqu Noyan had no luck in the western campaign, and he suffered a great defeat against Soltan Jalal al-Din Khwarezmshah in one of the most important battles of the time, which took place in the Pervan region between the Khwarezmshahs and the Mongols. After that, Shiqi Qutuqu Noyan became one of the influential politicians of the state who held important administrative positions during the time of Ögödey Khan. Qutuqu Noyan died between the ages of eighty or ninety during or after the Ariq Böke Rebellion.
