Abstract:

Midwifery is one of the oldest profession in the history. Health professionals who profess the midwifery, are everywhere where woman is. The nearest medical personnel to woman in the process of labor which is special moment for woman, is midwife. Woman always requests the support of somebody else in the labor process. In the labor process physical, psychological and social support to pregnant are given by the midwives. The continuity of this support increases the quality of midwifery care and labor process. Woman undergoes labor process more positive with the presence of midwife who is always nearby to woman. Labor process directly effects health of the mother and the newborn both. That the labor process happens at the optimal level also effects the health of the mother and the newborn positively. The fear, perceived pain level, intolerance to pain, lose of control, insufficent comfort and the insufficiency of support system during the labor process are the parameters which effect this process. Making these parameters better also lead to make the labor process better in parallel. Providing midwife support during labor process helps woman to feel less pain in the labor process. Also midwife support makes it easier to deal with labor fear. Providing continuous and effective midwife support also increases the pleasure of labor and comfort. Midwife support during the labor process is an effective method to manage the labor pain. Thats why midwives should provide continuous labor support in the labor process. This support is a right for each pregnant and pregnant should be able to reach this service. With their own autonomy midwives should schedule individualized care and provide continuous labor support for each pregnant.
