Abstract:

Excessive and misuse of natural resources has caused serious environmental deterioration globally. Especially in the last decade, natural disasters such as forest fires, storms, floods have occurred more frequently. Environmentally friendly investments are needed to reduce such disasters and ensure long-term and sustainable economic development. Since it aims to protect the environment, to protect the people and their prosperity, the implementation of sustainable development for an environmentally sensitive and healthy economy in the framework of the future of mankind must be followed. To this process, the concept of green finance has been introduced to improve the environment by supporting more efficient use of resources and to support greener investments such as ecological balance, energy savings, cleaner energies, green buildings. Thus, green finance can serve both greener development and economic and sustainable development goals. In this context, the main objective of the current study is to contribute to researchers and authors in the research community, to define the central concept of green development and green finance and to reveal the relations between these concepts and sustainability. Another objective of the study is to reveal the green finance tools that are widely used in today’s world to more green development investments.
