The first three centuries after the death of the Prophet is of great importance for the history of Islamic sects. In the said period, which is also called the formation period of Islamic thought, the foundations of certain schools of thought were laid, some of which disappeared over time, but a large part of which continues to exist until today. In this process, where the sects have not yet fully formed, there may be some interactions between the schools, as well as the sectarian affiliation of the prominent people can be a matter of discussion. In terms of enlightening the emergence and development processes of sects in a healthier way, the information given by the members of the sect about other sects in the works of the first period is of great importance as well as the information they give about themselves. Considering that Abu al-Qasim al-Balkhi al-Kabî died in 319/931, his works are also among the classical sources for the history of sects. Al-Kabî’s work named al-Maqalat, which has been revealed and published in the last period, contains extremely valuable information for the history of the early periords of sects. This work is important for al-Zaydiyya as well as understanding Mutazili views. The theological dimension and historical course of the relationship between al-Zaydiyya and al-Mutazila have always been the subject of discussion. Although there are claims that Zaydiyya was influenced by Mu'tazila as of its emergence, it is seen that Zaydiyya was an independent sect as of its birth, but there was an interaction between the two sects in the later period. At this point, we believe that the views of al-Kabî, one of the early al-Mutazilite scholars, on Zaydiyya are important in terms of both a better understanding of Zaydiyya and showing the historical process of relationship between al-Zaydiyya and al-Mutazila.
