Abstract:

This study was carried out as a identifying purpose to determine the relationship between the reasons for students to choose the nursing profession and the perception of nursing behaviors. The sample of the study was made by 673 nursing students who studied in the first, second, third and fourth classes who agreed to participate in the study in the 2016-2017 educational year. In the collection of data, the Student Promotion Form, the Nursing Care Selection Scale (HMSÖ) and the Nursing Behavior Scale-24 (BDÖ-24) were used. The average age of the student nurses participating in the study is 20.83±1.74 and 70.9% are women. 37.1 percent of students said they were taking care of two patients in a clinical practice, 40.1 percent spent 15-30 minutes in a clinical practice, and 41.8 percent said they were measuring many life findings in a clinical practice. The average score that student nurses receive from BDÖ-24 is 5,03±0,75. The average score they obtain from the lower dimensions of the scale was 5,09±0,78 in respect, 5,05±0,80 in guarantee, 4,98±0,82 in knowledge and skills, 4,98±0,80 in commitment. The scale of Nursing Career Selection of Students is 6,53±1,53 types. The scale of career choice in nursing and the scale of care behavior have been determined to have a meaningful relationship in the positive middle level between the total score. The scale of care behaviors found that the total score was significantly high in girls students (p=0,015). It was determined that many students chose the nursing profession "with the desire to help people". The conclusion is that the student’s perception of care behavior is high, that girls prefer the nursing profession more than men, and that students choose the profession with a sense of much help.
