OBJECTIVE: Primary hyperparathyroidism is a disease that result excessive secretion of parathormone. In this study, the results of 41 patients that was operated in our clinic because of primary hiperparathyroidism was evaluated with literature.METHODS: Preoperative ultrasonography and parathyroid sintigraphy with Tc-99 sestamibi were applied for diagnosis and localisation to all patients. Patient's data were analyzed retrospectively.RESULTS: The operations that applied in this study were adenoma excision (28), minimally invazive parathyroidectomy (5), subtotaly parathyroidectomy (2), totally parathroidectomy+ototransplantation in scm muscle (4), intrathorasic adenoma excision (1) with sternotomy and parathyroidectomy (1) with lateral incision.CONCLUSION: Due to a wide range of symptoms of hyperparathyroidism, patients actually treated as unnecessary by different clinics. Multidisiplinary understanding including general surgery, endocrinology, nuclear medicine and radiology is necessary and useful for this disease evaluation.
