Abstract:

Libraries are bridges between information and the library user in the context of information retrieval. It is necessary to control the information by cataloging according to related standards for accessing the information. The library users want to access information sources by subject as well as other access elements. Therefore, it is vital to create subject entries in bibliographic records. If subject added entries and their redirections are done correctly, it will make it easier for users to access the information they are looking for.             The aim of the study is to give information about the subject authority file and to set out the points to be considered in creating the subject authority file. For this purpose, firstly, definitions of authority work, authority control, and authority file were given, and the importance of the subject authority file as information accessing tool was mentioned. Later, useful information on how to create the subject authority file has been mentioned.
