Bu araştırmanın amacı 2021 Liseye Geçiş Sınavı (LGS) sonunda Tokat İli Merkez ilçede dokuzuncu sınıfa yerleşen/kayıt yaptıran öğrencilerin Empatik Eğilim düzeyleri ve Eleştirel Düşünme becerilerini inceleyerek bu iki değişken arasındaki ilişkiyi ortaya çıkarmaktır. Araştırmada var olan durumun olduğu şekliyle ortaya konulabilmesi için tarama modeli kullanılmış, ek olarak araştırmada incelenen değişkenlerin birbirleri ile ilişkilerini belirlemek amacıyla ilişkisel model de işe koşulmuştur. Araştırmanın çalışma grubu 408 öğrenciden oluşmaktadır. Çalışmada 9. sınıf öğrencilerinin empatik eğilim düzeylerinin orta seviyenin biraz üzerinde, eleştirel düşünme becerilerinin ise orta seviyenin altında olduğu görülmüştür. Empatik eğilim düzeylerinin cinsiyet değişkenine göre anlamlı farklılık gösterirken anne baba tutumu değişkenine göre anlamlı farklılık göstermediği, çalışmaya katılan öğrencilerin empatik eğilim düzeyleri ile akademik başarıları arasında anlamlı bir ilişkinin olmadığı, empatik eğilim düzeyleri ile eleştirel düşünme becerileri arasında ise negatif yönde düşük düzeyde anlamlı bir ilişki olduğu bulunmuştur.
The aim of this research is to examine the Empathic Tendency levels and Critical Thinking Skills of the students who are registered in the ninth grade at the end of the 2021 High School Entrance Examination (LGS) in the central district of Tokat and to reveal the relationship between these two variables. In the research, descriptive model was used to reveal the existing situation as it is, and in addition, the correlational model was used to determine the relations between the variables examined in the study. The study group of the research consists of 408 students. In the study, it was observed that the empathic disposition levels of the 9th grade students were slightly above the medium level, and their critical thinking skills were below the medium level. While the level of empathic tendency differed significantly according to the gender variable, it did not differ significantly according to the variable of parental attitude, there was no significant relationship between the levels of empathic tendency and academic achievement of the students participating in the study, and there was a low level of negative significant relationship between the levels of empathic tendency and critical thinking skills.
