Abstract:

Social change is a necessity for societies to continue their existence. The vital needs of societies determine the direction of change. In this context, although each individual of the society has different characteristics, it is inevitable that the values that hold them together will change over time. Natural events and communication and sharing between different societies form the basis of social change. For this reason, social change concerns almost every branch of science with its different dimensions. It is seen that social changes occur in rapid ways at very important times in the historical process. New developments in the world cause changes in the lifestyles, attitudes and behaviors of societies. The solutions to the events that concern all humanity are realized through inter-communal communication. The key to communication between different societies is the common language. In other words, it is the translation that brings the differences together. Translation is one of the most important phenomena that are the source of social changes. The rapid communication and transportation opportunities brought by technological developments have expanded the scope of translation action. Community interpreting, which is one of the subgroups of interpreting, is used effectively in events that are the source of social changes. Community interpreting plays an important role, especially in the solution of international problems, for the realization of harmony between societies with different socio-cultural structures. In this study, the relationship between social change and community interpreting is emphasized.
