Emerged as the concept of rapid prototyping technology, nowadays, is seen as the future of quick and direct production. This technology found applications with metal framework of fixed partial dentures, framework of removable partial dentures, facial protheses and titanium implants in prosthetic dentistry. The virtual image of the restoration is tranferred to the computer and the laser beam is sintered the selected areas on the alloy powders and the restoration is produced layer by layer at single stage. In this paper, rapid prototyping technology, operating principle and fabrication process are described.
