Abstract:

Translation is not only an inter-language, but also an inter-cultural event. In the translation process, the translator must constantly take into account the loyalty of the source text and the expectations of the target language reader. The purpose of the summer translator is to present a text equivalent to the source text from the direction of the linguistic function. However, equality here is provided not only by identity at the language indicator or content level, but by the preservation of the communication function of an expression in a different language and culture. The translation text must bear the language of the source text and the cultural standards to the necessary extent. Translation criticism involves the comparative analysis of the target text with the source text. In this analysis, in addition to the source and target texts, it is necessary to take into account the scripts to which they belong. In comparative analysis, the goal is to identify the elements that the target text is affected during the translation action and to investigate the cause of deviations from the source text. Between translations from Arabic literature to our language, the type of story holds an important place. Mîâ îl Nu ayme, which is considered the Maupassant of the Arabs in the field of story, is considered one of the most important representatives of modern Arab literature, with his works in various kinds such as novel, story, theatre, article, criticism, poetry, biography. In this study Mîâ îl Nu ayme's short story "Saâdetu'l-Beyk" (sعادة bik) has been examined by the translations translated to our language by Erdinç Doğru, Gürkan Dağbaşı and Kenan Demirayak, comparative translation method. This study has achieved a series of conclusions on the source or target text focus of the translations, the differences between the translator’s decisions, the translation approaches adopted by the translators and the measurement of the language, literary, and meaningful equality of the translations.
