This investigation is based on the study of the Democrat Party (DP) as regards the concept of authoritarianism. Authoritarianism, which does not display a homogeneous structure in itself, is being the subject matter of diverse practices extending from monarchy to competitive authoritarian regime. The power of DP had come significantly closer to the authoritarianism by manipulating the opponents, applying pressure on the media, spreading fear on the opponents and breaching the principle of impartiality of justice. However, while elections are made in authoritarian regimes, the opponents are never allowed to come into power also, the pressure applied is systematic. Lack of power sufficient to manipulate elections to this level of DP’s power and its pressure on different systems not being systematic takes the DP’s power outside the authoritarian regime. However, this does not make DP to have a democratic identity It can be said that the DP power, which has a tendency of becoming authoritarian, stands on a point between democracy and competitive authoritarian regimes.
