Upper extremity deep vein thrombosis is a rarely observed disease of the venous system characterized with edema, pain and functional disorder in upper extremity. One third of the cases may be associated with pulmonary embolism which may lead to mortality. In this paper a 28 year old male presenting with the complaints of edema and pain after strenuous physical activity of the upper extremity who was diagnosed with deep vein thrombosis is presented. Doppler USG confirmed the diagnosis and following treatment with heparin his complaints and clinical findings disappeared. Effort induced thrombosis (Paget-Schrotter Syndrome) must be suspected in patients presenting with swelling, pain, edema and functional disorder of the upper extremity.
