Abstract:

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to examine the nurses’ individualized care situations and their views on individualized care.Method: The data of this study, which is of a defining and cutting-edge type, were collected between February and July 2015 with an university hospital and two state hospitals’ nurses’ informational form, the nurses’ individualized care opinion form and the nurses’ version of the individualized care scale. The sample consisted of 256 nurses who agreed to participate in the study and who worked in hospitalized, surgical and intensive care.Discussions: 78.90% of nurses indicated that the opportunities offered to provide personalized care in the hospital were insufficient. 94.50 percent of nurses found it important to provide personalized care, while only 46.50 percent found it important to provide personalized care. When clinic nurses were studied in cases where they spent more time in indirect care practices, such as responding to the telephone by 30%, providing medication by 29%, checking entrance and exit by 19%, it was found that they spent more time in indirect care practices, such as responding to the telephone by 30%. In nurses’ care practices, the total material score for supporting the individuality of patients is 3.72±0.80, while the total material score for individualizing the patient’s care is 3.93±0.77. The result: Nurses are aware of the importance of providing individualized care, but they have difficulty providing individualized care due to some obstacles. For the provision of quality and secure individual care services, the nurses will be removed from indirect practices and directed to patient care by providing individual care.
