Bibliyometrik analiz, dünyadaki bilimsel çalışmaların değişim süreçlerini analiz etmek için yaygın olarak kullanılmaktadır. Bu bağlamda bibliyometrik analiz araştırmaların eğiliminin belirlenmesinde önemlidir. Bu makalede, Web of Science'ta taranan dergilerde yayınlanan makalelere dayanarak, 1970-2021 yılları arasında toprak organik karbonu ve toprak organik karbon stokları üzerine yapılan bilimsel araştırmaların performansının ve değişim süreçlerinin bibliyometrik analizi yapılmıştır. İklim değişikliğinin olumsuz etkilerinin iyileştirilmesinde kilit bir role sahip olan toprak organik karbonunun karasal ekosistemlerde tutulması bilim adamlarının dikkatini çekmektedir. Yapılan bu çalışmanın sonuçları konu ile ilgili yapılan makalelerin güne artmakta olduğunu göstermektedir. Bu alandaki ilk çalışma 1991 yılında yapılmış olsa da araştırmaların çoğu 2020 yılında yapılmıştır. Makalelerin büyük bölümünün yayın dilinin İngilizce olduğu ortaya çıkmıştır. En fazla çalışma toprak bilimleri kategorisinde olup konu ilgili en fazla yayın Geoderma dergisinde yayınlanmıştır. Araştırma alanı bazında değerlendirildiğinde en fazla araştırma tarım alanında olup bunu çevre bilimleri, yer bilimleri ve ormacılık bilimleri takip etmiştir. ABD ve Çin çalışmalarda en aktif olan iki ülke olup ABD toprak organik karbonu araştırmalarında lider konumdadır. Konu ile ilgili en çok alıntı yapılan yazarlar ise Koegel-Knabner,Ingrid, Smith, Pete ve Lal, Rattan olmuştur. Güncel araştırmalar tarım bilimleri, yerbilimleri ve ekoloji alanında yoğunlaşmıştır. Tarım bilimleri alanında yapılan çalışmalarda genellikle iklim değişikliği ve gıda güvenliği konuları ele alınmıştır. Yapılacak olan çalışmalarda karbon bütçesi, gıda güvenliği ve toplum sağlığı konuları üzerinde durulması ilgili alandaki boşlukların doldurmasına katkı sağlayacağı düşünülmektedir.
Bibliometric analysis is widely used to analyze the change processes of scientific studies in the world. In this context, bibliometric analysis is important in determining the trend of research. This article, based on articles published in scaned magazines on the Web of Science, carried out a bibliometric analysis of the performance and exchange processes of scientific research on soil organic carbon and soil organic carbon stocks between 1970 and 2021. The retention of organic carbon in soil ecosystems, which has a key role in improving the negative effects of climate change, attracts the attention of scientists. The results of this study show that the articles on the subject are increasing daily. Although the first study in this field was done in 1991, most of the research was done in 2020. The majority of the articles revealed that the language of publication was English. The most studies are in the field sciences category and the topics related most publications are published in the Geoderma magazine. When research field is assessed on the basis, the most research is in agriculture, followed by environmental sciences, land sciences and farm sciences. The U.S. and China are the two most active countries in the studies and the U.S. is the leader in land organic carbon research. The most cited authors on the subject were Koegel-Knabner, Ingrid, Smith, Pete and Lal, and Rattan. Current research has been focused on the fields of agricultural sciences, geosciences and ecology. The research in agricultural sciences has often addressed the issues of climate change and food safety. The study is expected to contribute to the filling of the gap in the area concerned by focusing on carbon budget, food safety and public health issues.

The most studies are in the category of soil sciences and the most publications related to the subject have been published in Geoderma journal. When evaluated on the basis of research area, the most research is in agriculture, followed by environmental sciences, earth sciences and forestry sciences. The USA and China are the two most active countries in studies, and the USA is the leader in soil organic carbon research. The most cited authors on the subject are Koegel-Knabner, Ingrid, Smith, Pete and Lal, Rattan. Current research focuses on agricultural sciences, earth sciences and ecology. climate change and food security issues have been discussed. It is thought that focusing on carbon budget, food safety and public health issues in the studies to be carried out will contribute to filling the gaps in the related field.
