Bu çalışmada popüler iş hayatı yazarlarının Türkiye’de 1928 yılı öncesinde Osmanlıca olarak yayımlanan kitapları incelenmektedir. Çalışma, Türkiye’deki işletmecilik ve yönetim-organizasyon tarihi alanına katkı sağlama amacındadır. Türkiye’de, 19. ve 20. yüzyıl işletmecilik bilgisine yönelik zeminin hazırlanmasında iktisadi neşriyatın rolü büyüktür. Bu nedenle, öncelikle Osmanlı’da Batı odaklı iktisadi neşriyatın gelişim sürecinden bahsedilmektedir. Bundan maksat işletmecilik bilgisi içerikli eserlerin Türkiye’de hangi koşullarda ortaya çıktıklarını tespit edebilmektir. Çalışma, iş hayatı ile ilgili Türkiye’de 1912 ve 1928 yıllarında yayımlanan iki eserin içeriklerine odaklanmaktadır. Bunlardan birisi Andrew Carnegie tarafından yazılan “İş İmparatorluğu-Gençlere Tarik-i Muvaffakiyet”, diğeri ise Herbert N. Casson tarafından yazılan “İş-Ticaret Âleminin 16 Düsturu” adlı kitaplardır. Yapılan inceleme soncunda her iki kitabın, “iş kurma”, “servet edinme” ve “imkanları değerlendirme” ve “ticaretle meşgul olma” konularını destekleyici bir yaklaşım içerisinde oldukları görülmektedir.
This study examines the books of popular business writers published in Ottoman in Turkey before 1928. The study aims to contribute to the field of business and management-organization history in Turkey. In Turkey, the role of economic joy in the preparation of the ground for the business knowledge of the 19th and 20th centuries is great. Therefore, first of all, in Ottoman, we are talking about the development process of the Western-oriented economic joy. The purpose of this is to identify in which conditions the works contained in the enterprise are presented in Turkey. The study focuses on the contents of two works published in Turkey in 1912 and 1928. One of them is Andrew Carnegie’s “Business Empire – The Advocacy for Youth” and the other is Herbert N. Casson’s “16 Order of the Business-Commerce World” (The 16 Order of the Business-Commerce World). At the end of the study, the two books appear to be in a supporting approach to the topics of "building a business", "acquisition" and "evaluation of opportunities" and "being engaged in trade".
This study investigates the books of popular business life authors that were published in Ottoman Turkish in Turkey before 1928. It aims to contribute to the field of business management and history of management-organization in Turkey. The literature on economics had a significant role in the preparation of a basis for knowledge on business management in the 19th and 20th centuries in Turkey. Therefore, firstly the development process of Westernoriented economics literature in the Ottoman Empire is discussed. The reason for this is to determine the types of conditions under which works with business management content emerged in Turkey. The study focuses on the contents of two works that were published in Turkey in 1912 and 1928 on business life. One of these is the book “İş İmparatorluğu-Gençlere Tarîk-i Muvaffakiyet” (original: The Empire of Business) by Andrew Carnegie, while the other is the book “İş-Ticaret Âleminin 16 Düsturu” (original: The Axioms of Business) by Herbert N. Casson. As a result of the analysis, it is seen that both books have approaches that are supportive of concepts of “establishing a business”, “gaining a fortune”, “utilizing opportunities” and “dealing with trade”.
