Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar, çok yönlü bir sanatçı olarak makale, deneme, hikâye, roman, edebiyat tarihi, şiir vb. birçok türde eserler vermiş önemli bir şahsiyettir. Bu türler içerisinde ele alacağımız şiir, Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar için ayrı bir yere sahiptir. Şiirlerinde yerli sanatçılardan Ahmet Haşim ve hocası Yahya Kemal; yabancı sanatçılardan Valery, Bergson, Baudelaire etkisinde kaldığı başta sayılacak isimler arasındadır.
