Çağın değişimleri ve toplumun ihtiyaçları doğrultusunda yeniden tasarlanan programlarda öğrencilerin hangi davranışlarının doğru olduğu, insani değerlerin neler olduğu ve önemi gibi konuların doğrudan yer alması önemlidir. Sadece bilginin yeterli olmadığı, bilginin yanı sıra ahlaklı, insani ve milli değerlere sahip karakterli bireylerin yetiştirilmesi görüşü giderek önem kazanmıştır. Bu sebepledir ki eğitimde değerler boyutu öğretim programlarında yeniden tasarlanarak vurgulanmıştır. Millî, manevi, evrensel ve insani değerleri benimsemiş ve bunları içselleştirerek davranışa dönüştüren bireyler yetiştirmede Görsel Sanatlar Eğitimi önemli bir rol üstlenir. Çocuğun öğrenmesini kolaylaştırması açısından soyut bir kavram olan değeri somutlaştırmasına olanak sağlayacak etkinliklerin olabileceği Görsel Sanatlar dersinin değerler eğitiminde önemli rol üstlenebileceği düşünülmektedir. Bu önemden hareketle çalışmada; 1-8. Sınıf Görsel Sanatlar Dersi Öğretim Programlarında verilen kök değerlerin durumu incelenmiştir. Öğretim programlarında yer alan kök değerler Görsel Sanatlar Dersi Öğretim Programına göre; adalet, dostluk, dürüstlük, öz denetim, sabır, saygı, sevgi, sorumluluk, vatanseverlik ve yardımseverliktir. Çalışma 2006, 2013 ve 2017 öğretim programlarıyla sınırlandırılmıştır. Nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden doküman incelemesi ile gerçekleştirilen bu çalışmada, 2006, 2013 ve 2017 Görsel Sanatlar Dersi Öğretim Programları (İlkokul ve Ortaokul 1-8. Sınıflar) veri kaynağı olarak kullanılmıştır. Çalışma sonucunda; 2006 İlköğretim Görsel Sanatlar Dersi Öğretim Programında değerler eğitimi ile ilgili kazanımlarda en çok vurgulanan kök değer; sorumluluk, 2013 Görsel Sanatlar Dersi Öğretim Programında vurgulanan kök değer; sevgi ve saygı, 2017 Görsel Sanatlar Dersi Öğretim Programında en çok vurgulanan kök değerin ise saygı olduğu söylenebilir.
It is important for the new programs, which have been designed according to changes of the age and needs of the society, to directly include important issues such as which behavior of students is correct or what the humanitarian values are. The opinion stating that knowledge is not sufficient by itself and we should educate ethical individuals with humanitarian and national values individuals in addition to being knowledgeable. This is why the values aspect of education has been redesigned and emphasized on by new education programs. Visual Arts Education plays a crucial role in raising individual who have adopted national, spiritual, universal and humanitarian values and internalized these to reflect upon their actions. It is thought that the Visual Arts Class may undertake a significant role in the education of values which may have activities that would make it possible for the children’s concretization of the value which is an abstract concept in terms of making it easier for the children to learn. Based on these, this study investigates the status of root values stated in 1-8th grade Visual Arts Education Programs. The fundamental values taking place in the educational programs in accordance to the Visual Arts Educational Program are justice, friendship, honesty, self-control, patience, respect, love, responsibility, patriotism and benevolence. This study was limited to 2006, 2013 and 2017 curriculums. This study, which employs the document review method among quantitative research methods, has used 2006, 2013 and 2017 Visual Arts Class curriculums (Primary School and Middle School, grades 1-8) as its data source. According to this study, the root value which has been emphasized the most during gains related to values education of the 2006 Primary School Visual Arts Class curriculum was found to be responsibility, the most emphasized root value in the 2013 Visual Arts Class curriculum was love and respect, while the most emphasized root value in the 2017 Visual Arts Class curriculum wasrespect.
