In this paper, Hills Like White Elephants which is a short story written by famous American short story writer Ernest Hemingway in 1927 is presented through a stylistic analysis by providing a semantic, lexical and grammatical investigation of the short story. This stylistic study provides a better and deeper linguistic understanding of the short story and shows its literary value more clearly. Besides, it attempts to investigate the style and the language of the short story by focusing on its overall structure and the grammatical structure of the sentences. The stylistic analysis has four main sections which are lexical categories, grammatical categories, foregrounded features and cohesion and context. Therefore, the stylistic analysis of this kind of text will provide to better understanding and expose the hidden or beyond meanings under the trivial dialogues of the characters and limited information of the setting, time and identity of characters in the story.
