Abstract:

The heritage is the whole estates of a person, movable property or real property, that he left behind him after the death. The written documents containing the information about is called “heritage records”.These documents gives list of all the properties of the person who died. Therefore, these documents allows us to have knowledge about the inheritor‟s lifestyle, economic status, daily life, education, social status etc. This study aims at mirroning the life, socio-economic level and family ties of Hatip-zâde Es-Sayyid Ali Agha in the XVIIIth century, one of the member of the leading families of Sivas, based on the inheritance records of his. In addition, it also provides information on how a rich person became a deptor and his social life and family life.(SŞS,5/282, 283, 284).
