Abstract enThis study aims to discuss the self-governance which is a very important element of local government units in the light of judicial decisions. As we know, our country is considered as a centralist state in many bodies of literature and evaluations. The relation between this evaluation and our study originates from the inversely proportional relationship between centralism and local self-government. In other words, as the centralist implementations increase, self-governing structure of local governments is eroded and becomes vague. At this point, judicial decisions undertake a crucial function and can become a position of a mechanism providing balance with respect to centralism and local self-government. In other words, judicial decisions can be the assurance of local self-government against centralism. However, the main problem of this study is upon revealing that judicial decisions regarding our country cannot have the exact balance function between centralism and local self-government and stating the reasons of this situation.
