Abstract:

The aim of the study is to designate the effect of the web based distance learning systems (web based instruction, web assisted instruction) on student's success, retention of the learning and attitudes towards the Computer. For this purpose this study was conducted with two experimental and one control groups of 94 9th grade students of Vali Gökhan Aydıner Vocational and Anatolian Vocational High School in the city center of Diyarbakır. The experimental pattern of the research is based on pre- test and post- test control group model. In the aim of teaching the subject ‘formula bar and function wizard' that in the unit of Calculation Table module, Connection and knowledge Technologies Lessons are taught to 1st Test Group by using Web assisted instruction, to 2nd Test Group by using Web Based Training and to Control Group by using Traditional Training material. Web Assisted Education applied first experiment group's retention of the learning scores were significantly high according to both Web Based Education applied second experiment group and Control Group. As a result, Web Assisted Education is more effective on retention of the learning.
