It was aimed to determine the confidence perceptions of secondary and high school students towards teachers in this study. The study group of the research consists of total of 361 students, 185 of whom studied at secondary school and 176 of whom studied at high school, in the central districts of Diyarbakır during the 2017-2018 academic years. The open-ended questionnaire was used as data collection tool in the research. Descriptive analysis was used to analyze the data obtained from the research. Direct quotations were included to study for reflecting the views of the secondary and high school students. According to the findings of the study, secondary school students stated a total of 33 different characteristics as qualifications which should be found in a reliable teacher. The qualifications that stand out according to secondary school students are that the teachers should not apply violence to their students, have professional competencies, be fair towards their students, show affection, be good people, be humorous / funny, be understanding / tolerant and good-humored/sincere, respectively. High school students stated a total of 41 different characteristics as qualifications which should be found in a reliable teacher. The qualifications that stand out according to high school students are that the teachers should be good-humored / sincere towards their students, behave understanding/tolerant to their students, not apply violence, have professional competencies, behave fairly, have good communication with students, be helpful, have time for their students and be honest, respectively.
