STEM Eğitimi Alanında Yapılan Yayınların Bibliyometrik Analizi

Abstract:

Çalışmada STEM eğitimi konu alanında yayımlanan bilimsel araştırmaların bibliyometrik analizi gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bu kapsamda alana yönelik bilimsel birikimin iletişim yapısının genel görünümü objektif bir yöntemle, veriye dayalı olarak ortaya konmaya çalışılmıştır. Bu kapsamda, STEM Eğitimi hakkında 1992-2017 yılları arasında yayımlanan 2313 çalışma bibliyometrik açıdan incelenmiş, son 26 yıldaki eğilim ortaya konmuştur. Web of Science Core Collection veri tabanında “STEM Eğitimi” konu başlığında tarama gerçekleştirilmiş ve çalışmalara ait bibliyometrik verilere ulaşılmıştır. Çalışmalar yıllara göre yayın sayıları, yayın türleri, yayın dilleri, atıf analizleri, ülke işbirliktelikleri, ortak atıf ağları ile kavram-konu yönelimleri alt başlıklarında incelenmiştir. Ortak atıf ağları ile kavram-konu yönelimlerinin belirlenmesinde sosyal ağ analizi kullanılmıştır. Veri setinde yer alan çalışmaların ortak atıfta bulunduğu yazarlar ve eserler de çalışma kapsamında incelenmiştir.  Böylece, STEM eğitimi konu alanında araştırmalar yapan önemli yazarların ve meydana getirdikleri eserlerin belirlenmesi ve aralarındaki etkileşimlerin tespit edilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Ayrıca çalışmada, STEM eğitimi alanında yayımlanan ve veri setinde yer alan araştırmalarda kullanılan kavramların belirlenmesi için kelime analizi gerçekleştirilmiştir. Analizler sonucunda işbirliktelikler ve ilişki örüntüleri bilişsel haritalar şeklinde görselleştirilmiştir. Çalışmada ayrıca ülke işbirliktelikleri, atıf kaynağı dergiler, yazarlar, yayınlar ile kavramların ağdaki konumları değerlendirilmiş,  veri setinde yer alan araştırmaların atıfta bulunduğu yazarlara, eserlere ve bu eserlerin yayımlandığı önemli dergilere yönelik olarak da atıf patlamaları tespit edilmiştir.

Abstract:

The study conducted a bibliometric analysis of scientific research published in the field of STEM education. In this context, the general view of the communication structure of the scientific accumulation towards the field was tried to be revealed on the basis of data by an objective method. In this context, 2313 studies on STEM Education published between 1992 and 2017 have been studied in a bibliometric perspective, showed the trend in the last 26 years. The data base of the Web of Science Core Collection has been scaned under the topic "STEM Education" and the bibliometric data of the studies has been obtained. The studies have been studied in the subtitles of the number of publications, types of publications, languages of publications, reference analyses, country cooperations, common reference networks and concept-theme orientations. Social network analysis has been used to identify common reference networks and concept-theme directions. The writers and works in the data set of the works in common reference are also studied in the work framework.  Thus, the STEM training is aimed at identifying the important writers who do research in the subject and the works they create and identifying the interactions between them. In addition, the study conducted word analysis to determine the concepts used in the research published in the field of STEM education and included in the data set. As a result of the analysis, collaborations and relationships are visualized in the form of cognitive maps. The study also assessed country cooperations, reference sources magazines, authors, publications and concepts on the network, and identified reference explosions to authors, works and important magazines where the research included in the data set was referred to.

This study involves bibliometric analysis of the scientific researches published in STEM education subject area to find out general layout of the scientific knowledge and scientific communication structure of the field using an objective method, driven from the data. For this purpose, 2,313 studies about STEM education, published between 1992 and 2017 were analyzed bibliometrically and the trend of the last 26 years was revealed. Web of Science Core Collection database was scanned for “STEM Education” keyword and bibliometric data belonging to the studies were obtained. The studies were analyzed under the following sub-headings: number of publications per year, types of publications, language of publications, citation analysis, country collaborations, Common Citation Networks and concept-topic tendencies. Social network analysis was employed for determining common citation networks and concept-topic tendencies. The authors and works, which have been commonly shown as reference by the studies included in the data set, were also analyzed within the scope of the study. Thereby, we aimed to identify main authors who have conducted researches in the subject area and the works that they have performed, as well as to determine the interactions between them. In addition, a word analysis was also conducted within the study in order to determine the concepts used in the researches published in STEM education area and covered in the data set. As a result of the analysis, collaborations and relationship patterns were visualized in the form of cognitive maps. In addition, the layout of the country collaborations, journals, authors, publications and concepts that form the sources of the citations in the network was evaluated and several citation bursts for the authors, works and significant journals, in which these works have been published, were identified.
