Özet:

The reflection of the way the fast-consumption industry and the marketing activities are moving rapidly with technological developments to Turkey; especially in terms of home order habits has been dramatically changing in the last 20 years. The time limit that emerged due to globalization, after the Industrial Revolution, has led to changes in the social structure along with the developing production technologies. The international competition and the increased production efforts that arise, the social structure that turns into the information society, the state of more participation in the total labour force of the woman, the obligation to work which reflects even the time of people eating and drinking, have directed society to find more practical and faster alternatives. In this study, in order to identify the socio-economic factors under the fast food habits of people and out-of-home food consumption, 359 students at Suleyman Demirel University have been interviewed face-to-face and the survey method has been applied and the horizontal cutting data has been estimated with the Logit model. The variable depends on the order of food to the home in the model created; the gender, the preference of fast food, the student's monthly food spending, the body mass index, the campaigns for the consumption of food outside the home and the possibility of ordering food that he can't make at home from outside and the place where his family is widely resident have been an explanatory variable. According to the analysis of the results of the survey, the average total income of the students who participated in the survey was 1082. 41 TL, the average food spending is 408.42 TL and the average food order spending is 56.03 TL. In addition, food spending was 38% of the total income, while food order spending was 14% of the average food spending. The conclusion that the share of food spending in income is decreasing from the low-income group to the high-income group is consistent with expectations. The main results of the econometric model show that fast food consumption habits and the possibility of providing food that is not prepared at home are two of the most important factors in the student’s choice of food outside the home.
