Abstract:

It is one of the first Turkish-French dictionaries to be identified in 1838 in Vienna, which was prepared by Artin Hindoğlu and published in Vienna. Hindoğlu states that he has prepared his dictionary more than the written language, that is, for those who want to learn the pronunciation of the words – travelers and businessmen – so the most important feature that distinguishes the dictionary from other Turkish-French dictionaries is that the pronunciation of the words is also shown. As the words are also written with Latin letters, the famous and unknown Turkish in which the Arabic letter is hidden is clearly seen. The dictionary has been attempted to record both the writing language and the speech language together, which makes it possible to see the original, inter- and Turkish forms of the words quoted together. Internal and Turkish forms are the pronunciations of the cited words, especially Arabic and Persian words, which often do not match the original immasters of that period. The article first provided information about Artin Hindoğlu and his dictionary, then the data in the dictionary were compared in terms of speaking and written language characteristics - other translations also compared with records in written texts.
