Peyami Safa’nın Server Bedi adıyla yayınladığı Cumbadan Rumbaya, doğu – batı çatışmasının Karagümrüklü Deli Cemile’yi merkeze alarak, mizahi dille anlatıldığı bir romandır. Romanda, Cemile’nin Karagümrük mahallesindeki “geleneksel” evden Taksim’deki “modern” bir apartman dairesine uzanan hikâyesi anlatılır. Kayserili tüccar Tahsin Bey’in kendisine sunduğu olanaklar ile Taksim’de apartman dairesinde hizmetçiler ve pahalı eşyalar ile yaşamaya başlayan Cemile’nin mahallesi, evi, eşyaları, kıyafetleri ve sosyal çevresi değişmiştir. Değişmeyen tek şey Cemile’nin üslubudur. Cemile, Karagümrük mahallesinin argo ile çepeçevre sarılmış dilinden kurtulamaz. Aslında kurtulmak istemez. Çünkü Cemile’ye göre üslubu kalp temizliğinin, saflığının göstergesidir. Bu çalışmada Peyami Safa’nın Cumbadan Rumbaya romanı, kadın argosu üzerinden incelenmiştir. Roman boyunca kadınların sesi daha çok duyulmaktadır. Cumbadan Rumbaya romanında yaygın olanın aksine, erkekler değil kadınlar argo konuşur. Başta romanın başkişisi Cemile olmak üzere, Karagümrük mahallesinde yaşayan bütün kadınlar argo konuşmaktadır. Bu argo örnekleri incelediğinde, kavga ve tartışma anında kullanılan hakaret içerikli argoların öne çıktığı görülmektedir. Kadın cinselliğine yönelik argo sözcükler ise yok denecek kadar azdır. Cemile’nin Karagümrük’teki komşuları ile konuştuğu argo ve Taksim’de yeni yeni tanıştığı çevreyle konuştuğu argo birbirinden farklıdır. Romanda Cemile’nin argosunun kaynağı, yetiştiği ailesi ve mahallesi Karagümrük’tür. Ayrıca eğitim almaması da argo konuşmasının sebepleri arasındadır. Kadın argosunun ön planda olduğu bu roman Peyami Safa’nın eserleri arasında bu yönü ile diğerlerinden ayrışmaktadır.
Cumbadan Rumbaya, published by Peyami Safa under the name of Server Bedi, is a novel in which the Eastern-West conflict takes the center of the Caragumeric Crazy Cemile, which is described in a humorous language. When examining these argo examples, it appears that the argons of insult that are used at the moment of struggle and discussion are highlighted. The words of argo to women’s sexuality are too little to disappear. The argo that Cemile talks with his neighbors in Karagümrük and the argo that he talks with the surroundings he recently met in Taksim are different from each other. The source of the argos of Romanda Cemile, his family and neighborhood is Karagümrük. It is also one of the reasons for the lack of education. This novel, in which the female argos is in the forefront, separates this direction from the other among the works of Peyami Safa.

All women living in the Karagümrük neighborhood, especially Cemile, the central character of the novel, speak slang. When these slang examples are examined, it is seen that insulting slang used during fights and arguments come to the fore. Slang words for female sexuality are very few. The slang that Cemile speaks to her neighbors in Karagümrük and the slang she speaks to the people she has just met in Taksim are different from each other. While speaking more freely in Karagümrük, she tries to pay attention to what she speaks in the modern environment of Taksim. Even when she is angry, it is seen that the slang language she uses in Taksim is more polite. The source of Cemile's slang in the novel is her family and neighborhood, Karagümrük. In addition, the lack of education is among the reasons for speaking slang. Because, according to Cemile, school "makes people mush". That's why Cemile doesn't like those who "talk with the mouth of a clerk" around her. This novel, in which female slang is at the forefront, differs from the others among Peyami Safa's novels with this aspect.
