17. yüzyıldaki bilimsel gelişmeler yeni bilim ya da bilimsel devrim olarak adlandırılmaktadır çünkü bu dönemde Kopernik, Kepler, Galileo, Newton, Harvey gibi isimlerin buluşları yaklaşık iki bin yıllık bir dönem boyunca doğru kabul edilmiş bilimin ilkelerini değiştirmiştir. Sözgelimi Aristoteles fiziğinin yerini Galileo ve Newton’un mekanik ilkeleri, Batlamyus’un dünya merkezli sisteminin yerini ise Kopernik ve Kepler’in güneş merkezli sistemi almıştır. Bilimdeki bahsi geçen değişim bazı filozoflar aracılığıyla felsefi düşünce üzerinde de etkili olmuştur. Bu filozoflardan biri Thomas Hobbes’tur. Bu çalışmada özellikle Galileo’nun yeni fiziğinin ve dönemin geometri biliminin Hobbes’un felsefi antropolojisi üzerindeki etkileri ile bu felsefi antropoloji temelinde Hobbes’un ortaya koyduğu politik düşüncenin klasik dönemden nasıl radikal bir farklılığa işaret ettiği gösterilmeye çalışılacaktır.
Scientific developments in the 17th century are called the new science or scientific revolution, because during this period the inventions of names such as Copernicus, Kepler, Galileo, Newton, Harvey have changed the principles of correctly accepted science over a period of about two thousand years. The mechanical principles of Galileo and Newton were replaced by Aristotle's physics, and the world-centric system of Batlamyus was replaced by the solar-centric system of Copernicus and Kepler. The change mentioned in science has also influenced philosophical thinking through some philosophers. One of these philosophers is Thomas Hobbes. This study will specifically try to show how the influence of Galileo’s new physics and geometry science on Hobbes’s philosophical anthropology and how the political thought that Hobbes has presented on the basis of this philosophical anthropology marks a radical difference from the classical era.
