In this study, 60 cold storages used for apple preservation in Isparta Province were determined as research material. In the interviews with cold storage owners, it was determined that 78.33% of the cold storages used in the region were used only for apple; and the remaining 21.67% were used for short-term storage of the fruits such as cherry, apricot, peach, and plum in the summer season. It was observed that expanded polystyrene (EPS) was used as wall insulating material in 55.00% of these storages, polyurethane (PU) panel was used in 30.00% and polyurethane (PU) foam was used in 15.00% of these storages. The storages were evaluated according to the ceiling insulating material, it was determined that EPS was used as insulating material in 46.67%, PU panel was used in 30.00% and PU foam was used in 23.33% of the storages. In interviews with cold storage owners in the region, storage owners stated that insulating materials such as EPS or PU foam are not suitable for fruit storage and that these insulating materials are not sufficient in terms of storage hygiene. The storage owners of the storages where PU panels were used as insulating material on the walls and ceilings of the cold storages stated that they were satisfied with this insulating material they used in their storages and also stated that it was sufficient in terms of storage hygiene.
