Amaç: Çalışma pediatri hemşirelerinin empatik eğilim, duygusal emek davranışları ve tükenmişlik düzeyleri arasındaki ilişkinin belirlenmesi amacıyla tanımlayıcı tipte gerçekleştirilmiştir. Gereç ve Yöntem: Araştırma, herhangi bir örneklem seçimine gidilmeden, Ağrı il merkezi ve pediatri servisi bulunan ilçe hastanelerinde çalışan ve araştırmaya katılmayı kabul eden 66 pediatri hemşiresi ile yürütülmüştür. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak “Tanıtıcı Bilgi Formu”, “Empatik Eğilim Ölçeği”, “Duygusal Emek Ölçeği” ve “Maslach Tükenmişlik Ölçeği” kullanılmıştır. Bulgular: Pediatri hemşirelerinin yaş ortalaması 28.36±6.13 dür. Hemşirelerin %54.5’inin kadın, %60.6’sının evli, %62.1’inin lisans mezunu olduğu, %43.9’unun 2-5 yıldır pediatri hemşiresi olduğu bulunmuştur. Pediatri hemşirelerinin orta düzeyde empatik eğilime sahip olduğu duygusal emek ölçeğinde duygusal çaba ve yüzeysel davranış alt boyutlarının daha çok kullandığı duygusal tükenme ve duyarsızlaşma alt boyutunda orta düzeyde, kişisel başarı boyutunda ise yüksek düzeyde tükenmişlik yaşadığı belirlenmiştir. Hemşirelerin empatik eğilim ve tükenmişlik puan ortalamaları arasında ve yüzeysel davranış ile duygusal tükenme arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı düzeyde negatif yönde bir ilişki olduğu saptanmıştır (p<0.05). Sonuç: Yüksek empatik eğilimin ve yüzeysel davranış göstermenin pediatri hemşirelerinin tükenmişlik düzeylerini azalttığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.
Purpose: The study was performed in a characteristic type in order to determine the relationship between the empathic tendency of the pediatric nurses, emotional work behavior and the levels of exhaustion. Tools and Methods: The research was conducted with 66 pediatric nurses who work in district hospitals located in the Pain Provincial Center and Pediatric Service, without going to any sample selection, and who agree to participate in the research. In the study, the data collection tool was used as the "Integrative Information Form", "Empatic Trend Scale", "Emotional Work Scale" and "Maslach Extinction Scale". The average age of pediatric nurses is 28.36 ± 6.13. 54.5 percent of nurses were female, 60.6 percent married, 62.1 percent graduated, and 43.9 percent were pediatric nurses for 2-5 years. Pediatric nurses have a middle-level empathic tendency; emotional effort and superficial behavior subdimensions are more used in the scale of emotional work; emotional exhaustion and insensitivity subdimensions are middle-level, and personal success-dimensions are high-level exhaustion. It has been found that nurses have a relationship in a statistically significant negative direction between the average empathic tendency and exhaust score and between superficial behavior and emotional exhaust (p<0.05). The result: High empathic tendency and superficial behavior have been achieved to reduce the levels of extinction in pediatric nurses.
Aim: This study was conducted as a descriptive study to determine the relationship between the empathic tendency, emotional labor behaviors, and burnout levels of pediatric nurses. Material and Methods: The study was carried out without any sample selection with 66 pediatric nurses working in hospitals in Ağrı province center and in district hospitals with pediatric service and who agreed to participate in the study. "Introductory Information Form", "Empathic Tendency Scale", "Emotional Labor Scale" and "Maslach Burnout Scale" were used as data collection tools. Results: The average age of participating pediatric nurses was found to be 28.36±6.13. 54.5% of them were female, 60.6% of them were married, 62.1% had bachelor’s degree, 43.9% of them worked as a pediatric nurse for 2-5 years. It was determined that the pediatric nurses had moderate empathic inclination and used emotional effort and superficial behavior sub-dimensions more on emotional labor scale. It was found that the nurses experienced moderate burnout in the emotional exhaustion and desensitization sub-dimension and high-level burnout in personal success dimension. There was a statistically significant negative correlation between empathic tendency and average burnout scores of nurses and between superficial behavior and emotional exhaustion (p<0.05). Conclusion: High emphatic tendency and superficial behavior have been found to reduce burnout levels of pediatric nurses.
