The purpose of this study is to assess the elementary school (7th grades) students' attitudes toward the pressure unit and determine the problem solving methods related to this unit. The survey involved 192 students from five elementary schools in Balıkesir. The instrument used in this study was a questionnaire that had ten items concerning pressure unit and problem solving. The result of the study revealed that "the students have negative attitudes to the science especially to the pressure unit in the beginning of the course the most and also after the teaching", "students are insufficient to use the metacognitive problem solving methods like asking questions yourself, having a strategy and making interval justifications while solving a problem".
