Abstract:

The aim of the study is to determine the conformity of the articles in the field of teaching Turkish as a foreign language, published in 2005-2019, to the rules of academic text writing. Document scanning/examination, one of the qualitative research techniques, was used in the study. The material of the study consisted of 582 research articles published in the field of teaching Turkish as a foreign language, the full text of which has been reached. The documents examined in the study were limited to research articles whose full texts were accessed from DergiPark, Google, Google Scholar databases. In order to determine the compliance of the articles with the rules of academic text writing, the "Articles" consisting of 12 dimensions (title, author information, summary, keywords, introduction, method, findings, conclusion, discussion, suggestions, bibliography, citation) and 56 items were developed by the researcher by taking expert opinions. Control Form” was used. Descriptive analysis, one of the qualitative analysis techniques, was used in the analysis of the collected data. At the end of the study; It has been determined that the rules of writing academic texts are not followed at a significant level in the titles of the examined article texts, the institutions and contact information of the authors, the summary and introduction sections of the studies, the methods, the findings, the conclusion and the discussion sections. It has been determined that the sections where the academic text writing rules are ignored the most are the summary, introduction and discussion sections, respectively. Based on the results, suggestions were made to the relevant people in line with the determination of the principles of academic text writing on which field researchers who prepare academic texts in the same discipline and academic journals that publish researches should be based on, and that all researchers should be given academic text writing training in line with the determined rules.
