Bu araştırmanın amacı, lise öğrencilerinin Covid-19’a yönelik metaforik algılarının ve bilişsel yapılarının incelenmesidir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu 2021-2022 eğitim öğretim yılında Gaziantep ilinde öğrenim gören 172 lise öğrencisi oluşturmaktadır. Bu araştırmada lise öğrencilerinin Covid-19 kavramına yönelik metaforik algıları ve bilişsel yapıları; metafor tekniği, bağımsız kelime ilişkilendirme testi ve yazma çizme tekniği kullanılarak ortaya çıkarılmıştır. Araştırmanın veri analizinde ise içerik analizi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada geçerliği sağlayabilmek adına veri analizi tüm aşamalarıyla ayrıntılı bir şekilde açıklanmıştır. Edilen bulgulara yönelik frekans (f) ve yüzdelere (%) yer verilmiştir. Ayrıca katılımcıların görüşlerinden doğrudan alıntılar yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın güvenirliğini sağlayabilmek için ise veri üçgenlemesi (data triangulation) yoluna gidilmiştir. Verilerin analizi neticesinde öğrencilerin 218 metafor, 342 ilişkili kelime ve 224 yazma-çizme gerçekleştirildiği görülmektedir. Araştırma sonunda metaforların en çok “Zarar Vermesi Açısından”, “Yayılma / Artış Göstermesi Açısından”, “Duyuşsal Özellik Göstermesi Açısından”, “Bir Hastalıkla İlişkilendirilmesi Açısından” kategorilerinde bir araya getirildiği; kelime ilişkilendirme testi sonucundaki cevap kelimelerin en çok “Covid-19’a Yönelik Algılar”, “Sonuçları”, “Süreci” ve “Hissettirdikleri” kategorilerinde bir araya getirildiği; yazma-çizme tekniğindeki sonuçların ise en fazla “Fiziksel Yapı”, “Korunma Yolları”, “Bulaşma Yolları” ve “Sonuçları” kategorilerinde toplandığı görülmektedir. Sonuçlara bakıldığında “Korunma Yolları”, “Bulaşma Yolları”, “Sonuçları”, “Hissettirdikleri”, “Etki Alanı”, “Süreci” ve “Algılar” kategorilerinin ortak kategoriler olduğu görülmektedir. Bunun yanı sıra Covid-19’un faydalı yönüne de vurgu yapıldığı görülmektedir.
The purpose of this research is to examine high school students' metaphorical perceptions and cognitive structures towards Covid-19. The study group of the research consists of 172 high school students studying in Gaziantep in the 2021-2022 academic year. In this research, metaphorical perceptions and cognitive structures of high school students towards the concept of Covid-19 were revealed using the metaphor technique, independent word association test and writing drawing technique. Content analysis was used in the data analysis of the research. In order to ensure validity in the research, all stages of data analysis were explained in detail. Frequencies (f) and percentages (%) for the findings are included. Additionally, direct quotes were made from the participants' opinions. In order to ensure the reliability of the research, data triangulation was used. As a result of the analysis of the data, it is seen that the students made 218 metaphors, 342 related words and 224 writing and drawing. At the end of the research, it was found that the metaphors were mostly brought together in the categories of "In terms of causing harm", "In terms of spreading / increasing", "In terms of showing affective properties", "In terms of being associated with a disease". The answer words as a result of the word association test were mostly brought together in the categories of "Perceptions towards Covid-19", "Results", "Process" and "Feelings"; It is seen that the results of the writing-drawing technique are mostly collected in the categories of "Physical Structure", "Methods of Protection", "Methods of Transmission" and "Consequences". Looking at the results, it can be seen that the categories "Methods of Protection", "Methods of Transmission", "Results", "Feelings", "Area of Effect", "Process" and "Perceptions" are common categories. In addition, it seems that the beneficial aspect of Covid-19 is also emphasized.
