Abstract:

Social interest in hıfz education is increasing and diversifying in Turkey. This situation has opened the door to new application and program understandings in hıfz education. Since the 2000s, academic publications on the expanding framework of hıfz education have also been increasing. This change requires a systematic review of the problem areas of the education in question and the publications dealing with them at regularly. It can be said that such examinations can contribute to the improvement of the quality of this education. Based on this concern, scientific publications dealing with the problems of hıfz education were examined in this study. In this framework, the selected works were examined by categorizing them as problems arising from the meaning of memorization, its structure and organization, its program, teachers, students, and parents. In the literature, the local and universal problem areas of the uniform hıfz model based on the traditional hıfz understanding and the resistance points for its updating have been examined, and the structure and functioning of hıfz education have been discussed. Based on the opinions of teachers and students, and the results of research based on theoretical data, various suggestions were made on issues such as stretching and contenting the hıfz education, equipping the instructors effectively, making it functional in terms of guidance and social culture. In the study, it was emphasized that in addition to readings based on ethnographic data, there is a need for action research studies and interdisciplinary perspectives, and that these studies can contribute to a better understanding and transfer of good examples.
